The Twisted Truth – Do the experiments

18 July to 30 August

VakantieWorkshop
Optische illusie in zwart en wit, die lijkt te draaien

In the workshop The Twisted Truth, you’ll work together on a series of experiments and activities that (strangely enough) actually make you doubt things even more!

18 July to 30 August
Congreszaal
For children

We'll explore perception, objectivity, and subjectivity. Come and question what you see, what you can do, and why things are never quite the same. After this, you’ll start putting a question mark behind everything you think you know—a perfect mindset for a budding scientist!

My Strange Eyes – The photo exhibition
In My Strange Eyes, you’ll be amazed by photographs and images that show how your eyes (or is it your brain?) are far from objective. You’ll see movement or colour that isn’t really there, proportions that don’t add up, and even a little witch floating in front of your eyes. Seeing is believing? Not quite.

The Upside-Down World
In The Upside-Down World, you’ll walk a course where up is down and down is up. What can you still do, and what becomes impossible? Did you know your brain can be trained through experiences like this, eventually even flipping a mental switch? We’ll explain the concept of neuroplasticity.

The Mirrored Reality
In The Mirrored Reality, you’ll work with a very special kind of kaleidoscope. Together you’ll create the most stunning images—the shapes and movements are almost hypnotic, and reality becomes hard to recognise. You can even take a kaleido-selfie!

Music to Score With
This activity shows that even what you think you are capable of is not objective. How does your environment influence how well you perform a task? Try it out with a nerve maze—will the music help you, or will it get in your way?
