On the afternoon of the 20th of May we will be hosting a special edition of Tech Talk, organised by Leiden Bio Science Park. And what better subject to tackle than that of our current temporary exhibit.

'Unseen' reveals how, for centuries, medical science has taken the male body as the norm, often overlooking women and gender-diverse individuals. Today, luckily, things are changing. Join us for a thought-provoking discussion on innovative approaches and practical applications regarding women’s health.

Six experts in the field will get just 10 minutes to present their groundbreaking work. You can also visit the exhibit ‘Unseen’, and join us for drinks afterwards to continue the inspired discussions.

  • TNO: TNO's Women's Health program integrates biomedical, (psycho)social, and technological expertise to tackle women's health challenges. By combining fundamental research with practical solutions, TNO aims to ensure that future generations of women can reach their full potential without health-related barriers.
  • LiGalli: LiGalli aspires to significantly enhance the quality of life and care for women by empowering patients and healthcare professionals with intelligent drug delivery and diagnostics. The LiGalli MedRing is a self-insertable medical device designed to release small doses of medication in the vagina according to a personalized delivery schedule.
  • Veerle Michels: Veerle is a PhD candidate in Human Embryology & Fetal Imaging at Amsterdam UMC. She uses cutting-edge 3D imaging techniques to study human developmental anatomy.
  • Women's Heart Health Clinic LUMC: The Women's Heart Health Clinic at LUMC focuses not only on conditions unique to women, but also on cardiovascular issues that occur more frequently in women or are more often not (or not timely) diagnosed in women.
  • Mieneke ten Henepe: Mieneke is a curator at Rijksmuseum Boerhaave and will provide an exciting and insightful introduction to the new exhibition "Unseen." Unseen reveals how, for centuries, medical science has taken the male body as the norm, often overlooking women and gender-diverse individuals.
  • Concord Neonatal: Concord Neonatal helps babies ,and their parents, thrive in the first minutes of life outside the womb with their new approach called physiological-based cord clamping. This method allows neonatal caregivers to provide lifesaving care while the umbilical cord remains intact, resulting in a "shock-free birth."
