In 2022, artist Kuang-Yi Ku and STI expert Dr. Henry de Vries received the BAD Award (Bio Art & Design Award) for Atlas of Queer Anatomy, completing its first two chapters and transforming it into an exhibition.
The project later won the 2023 Core77 Design Award (Speculative Design, Professional) and was nominated for the Dutch Design Awards. Supported by the Stimuleringsfonds (NL) and NCAF (TW), they developed three more chapters and, with designer Tzu-Yen Chen, published the full book in May 2025 via Limestone Books. In March, the project was featured in Unseen at Rijksmuseum Boerhaave, exploring gender inequality in medicine. To celebrate the book and exhibition, a launch event will take place on June 17 at the museum, featuring talks by Ku, de Vries, and Chen.
